About the Franklin County Historical Society-Kittochtinny

Franklin County Historical Society owns and operates a museum of local history including artifacts, archives and genealogy library. The society also maintains the John Brown House where Brown planned his raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859. Items of interest pertaining to the Civil War include artifacts, (Chambersburg was the only northern town burned-1864) archival material, documents, images.

Programs and Services

Membership includes unlimited use of the genealogy library, free admission to the Old Jail and John Brown House museums. Free subscription to Crossed Keys newsletter. Free copy of the annual journal. Monthly meetings based on local history and programs based on current exhibits.

Showcases

Collections include primary source material - diaries, letters, images, artifacts, information pertaining to the CWCT., and the Underround Railroad.
