The Adams County Historical Society's mission is to identify, preserve, and tell the stories of the people, organizations, businesses, and events that have shaped Adams County, Pennsylvania. As a result, the Historical Society is sometimes affectionately referred to as the county’s attic - a repository of rich, local, cultural heritage.

Inside the Society is the Battle of Gettysburg Research Center which holds, books, maps, and computer files related to the study of the battle as well as the Civil War. Included are computer files from from the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides containing fully searchable PDF files of primary sources of Union and Confederate regiments in the battle.
