About the Juniata County Historical Society
The Juniata County Historical Society maintains an Archives in Mifflintown, PA. Our holdings include, but are not limited to family histories, tax records, and local newspapers. Our museum at the Tuscarora Academy has a variety of displays related to Juniata County history. The Society is the owner of the Pomeroy Academia Bridge, the longest remaining covered bridge in Pennsylvania. The bridge was completely rest

Tuscarora Academy Museum is open every Sunday, June through August from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
Other times by appointment
Archives is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, other times by appointment.
Volunteers are available
We maintain a database of Juniata Countians who served in the Civl War.
On August 20 & 21, 2011, a Civil War living history weekend will take place at the Tuscaora Academy. Civil War medicine will be discussed on Saturday, August 20, at 1 pm. On Sunda, August 21, our guests will be entertained through Civil War music. Local reenactors will be available to answer questions.
